Ability and interest in working with people of all ages, from pre-K through older adults.Previous experience with teaching art, especially ceramics.2-5 years of experience in arts administration, art education, community engagement, program management, and/or ceramics.Complete bi-weekly payroll for all contract teaching artists and assistants.Provide quarterly professional development opportunities for Claymobile teaching artists and assistants.Work with the Deputy Director and outside evaluators to evaluate all Claymobile teaching artists and assistants.Maintain active and up-to-date clearances for all teaching artists and assistants.Create and maintain a schedule for all Claymobile teaching artists and assistants.This includes six staff teaching artists (5 full-time, 1 part-time) and additional contract teaching artists and assistants. Oversee the work of Claymobile teaching artists and assistants.Responsible for hiring and orientation of new Claymobile teaching artists and assistants.Manage special grant projects about the Claymobile program.Support grant writing application efforts with program and partnership ideas. Oversees the onsite After-School program and supports the After-School Coordinator.Work with the Deputy Director for planning and implementing other community events and festivals such as Hands-On Clay, First Fridays, and Clay Fest.Collaborate with various partner sites, including artist groups, schools, community centers, advocacy groups, and appropriate Board Committees on program planning.Write and distribute quarterly Claymobile e-newsletter.Work in collaboration with outside evaluators to define and implement outcome-based evaluation models.Maintain and create new content - lesson plans and curriculums - for the Art Education resource page on The Clay Studio's website.Oversee and install the annual Claymobile Creations exhibition (typically held in January).Support the Teaching Artists on curriculum development for residencies and workshops.Keep up-to-date itineraries for each Claymobile partner site.Collect all grant-related materials and reports for the Development Department.Maintain a transparent and simple process for managing a Claymobile partnership (paperwork, scheduling, etc.).Communicate with partner sites to plan and schedule residencies and workshops.Determine Claymobile community partnerships in collaboration with the Deputy Director (the Claymobile program partners with nearly 100 organizations annually for workshops and residencies).The duties and responsibilities of the CEM are listed below, reflecting the tasks associated with their key competencies. The program provides an innovative, hands-on approach to learning that strengthens and enhances existing cultural programming, supplements educational curricula, and catalyzes community engagement. The Claymobile program partners with schools, community organizations, and social service agencies around the Philadelphia region to provide under-resourced communities with high-quality arts programming. They work closely with the Deputy Director to balance timelines, schedules, and budgets. The Community Engagement Manager (CEM) oversees the day-to-day operations of The Clay Studio's (TCS) Claymobile program and studio.
